Position Summary/Job Duties:

LSC 100 is a 3-credit course that fulfills the Comm A requirement for all undergraduates. The course focuses on the fundamentals of effective written and spoken communication. Students develop skills in gathering and evaluating information, writing short papers, conducting library searches for a 6-page research paper, and preparing and delivering oral presentations.

Job Duties:
-Work with LSC Faculty Director who provides curriculum for all sections.
-Teach two sections of 16 students each; 32 students total per TA.
-TAs work closely together to ensure standard curriculum across sections Weekly TA meeting
with Faculty Director.
-Hold office hours.
-Use Canvas to evaluate student work using rubrics, submit grades.
-Traditional classroom format for Monday lecture delivered by TAs (produced by faculty) with
class discussion Wednesday and Friday classes are highly interactive: small group
exercises, group editing & peer review; students give talks every Friday.
-Staggered grading cycle (grade 5 students weekly each section, maximum 20 pages plus;
weekly short quizzes; track research worksheets adding helpful comments).
-Other duties as assigned
