Schedule:

Scheduling for these positions can be flexible, allowing students 4-24 hours/week based on the students need. We are most in need of students willing to work AM or PM shifts on Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends. Shifts will be assigned based on student availability.

-A positive attitude and commitment to learning about the care of dairy cattle

-Skills in communicating with fellow co-workers, the management team, faculty, and visitors in a professional manner

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This opportunity offers flexible options for students to gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a dairy farm. The Dairy Cattle Center houses 84 lactating dairy cows which participate daily in various research projects as well as teaching activities in our facility. Students will be trained on cattle handling techniques, proper milking procedures, milk sampling processes, animal research data collection, and overall dairy management routines.

Physical Demands:

Position requires frequent bending and twisting, along with repetitive motions of hands, wrists, and arms. Must be able to respond quickly to actions of 300-1400 pound animals to prevent being stepped on and/or pinned against a gate.
