Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, Theater Arts, or other content related field
- 2 years of teaching experience with K-12 students preferred. Student teaching experience will be considered.
- Graduate level coursework, completed or in progress, is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging content to middle school students is preferred.
- Energetic approach to learning
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with students, administration, and support staff
- Experience meeting the needs of all students
- Respect for individual differences and individuality.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Experience working with high school students
- Experience teaching content area subject

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Curriculum designer for the Engineering Fundamentals and Design course for the Accelerated Learning Program. Program dates are June 29- July 18, 2025. The curriculum designer’s main role in the program is to design curriculum for a class of up to 16 high school students. Course description listed below:

Engineering is a profession of problem-solving that is both academically rigorous and creatively demanding. Engineers play a pivotal role in creating the technology we rely on every day, from the mobile phones in our pockets to the brightness of our screens and even the clothes we wear. By constantly improving existing systems and offering innovative alternatives, engineers contribute to a brighter future. But what does it truly mean to "solve" engineering problems? This course will introduce you to a broad spectrum of engineering fields and provide a strong foundation for understanding its key tools and concepts. Guest speakers and lab visits will give students a glimpse into the everyday operations of UW engineering teams. We will look into the mindset of an engineer and explore current cutting edge questions in various engineering fields. By undertaking this course, you will discover the essence of every engineering problem-solving and acquire the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to tackle real-world challenges with positive impact in the field of engineering.

Curriculum Designer Role: responsible for creating an instructional plan for each assigned course to cover the instructional hours noted above. The Curriculum Designer role will fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Produces assigned deliverables by the given due date for each program.
- Produces deliverables within the prescribed program templates.
- Attends required remote instructional design meeting(s)
- Attends 2-3 virtual meetings between March - June to mentor course instructor (if applicable)
