Department Overview:
The Business and Math Bridge (BAM) program supports incoming undergraduate business and pre-business students placing into pre-calculus math courses. It is an early start program that takes place before fall term classes start and allows students to move in early and to develop their math skillsets ahead of their first semester of college. The program will consist of math content and study skill development as well as networking opportunities, a mini case competition, and exposure to core business constructs, all framed through a math-centric lens. Primary goals of the program include: 1. Cultivate a growth mindset in our students, especially related to their math capacity and problem-solving skillset 2. Combat imposter phenomenon 3. Build community amongst incoming students 4. Give students an opportunity to re-take the UW Math Placement exam

Minimum: Two days of training (16 hours of training total) and roughly 9:00-5:00 pm for the 5 days of the program (about 40 hours total for the program) Maximum:

Training: August 19th and 20th, 2025; Must be available for all program dates from August 21st-26th

Qualifications:
Must be located in the United States (international students are welcome to apply, but we cannot hire students who are residing in another country) Must have earned at least an AB in MATH 211 or MATH 221 (preference for students who have also taken MATH 96/MATH 112) Overall GPA of at least 3.25 (3.5+ GPA Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Teaching or tutoring experience desired Interest in creating inclusive and welcoming learning spaces
Position Summary/Job Duties:
- Work 1:1 and in small groups with students - Instruct and mentor students in core math concepts and skills - Work under the supervision of the Math Bridge Coordinator - Collaborate with Graduate Instructor for program - Complete training for the position (both in person and asynchronous)
