Department Overview:

The intern will work closely with the Department of Pediatrics communications team to promote the department’s mission through a variety of digital communication mediums, including e-newsletters, websites, and social media (including short-form video content). The Department of Pediatrics promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting-edge research, and vigorous advocacy.

Schedule:

This hybrid internship will require one shift a week to be completed onsite at University Hospital. Other shifts can be completed remotely. The hospital is accessible by bus.

Qualifications:

We are hoping to work with an undergraduate student who is interested in a communications internship on a student hourly basis:
• Organize and format information for the department e-newsletters
• Contribute to the department’s social media strategy by drafting posts and developing short-form video content for Instagram and LinkedIn
• Write, manage, and edit content for the department website, including faculty and scientist biographies
• Perform video editing tasks

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Previous communications experience and/or a background in health communications are helpful, but not required. The following skills and abilities are required for the hybrid internship:
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
• Time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines
• Creative thinking
• Ability to follow instructions
• Detail oriented
• Familiarity with video editing software programs including Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro
• Proficiency with Microsoft products
• Strong awareness of social media trends and audience behaviors
