Department Overview:
The First-Gen Badgers Program, a part of the Office of Inclusion Education, advances the holistic development, self-efficacy, and success of all first-generation students and their communities at UW-Madison. Together, we strive to ensure that all first-generation students experience a supportive campus community to thrive and flourish during their time on campus and beyond.

Qualifications:
-Ability to work 5-10 hours weekly in person -3.0 GPA or higher -Ability to make a commitment for the academic year -Enrolled as a UW-Madison student while employed
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
-Experience in and exposure to peer leadership and facilitation (via coursework, scholarship, campus or community engagement, etc.) -Understanding of and commitment to student development ideas and student engagement on college campuses -Strong interpersonal and written communications skills -Interest or experience in program assessment and evaluation -Experience working with design software (e.g. Canva) -Ability to work collaboratively with other interns and staff -Ability to work independently and balance multiple responsibilities and tasks at once -Experience with or interest in learning about and supporting first generation and low income student communities and their allies at UW-Madison
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Specific responsibilities include: -Build and sustain relationships with UW-Madison community members to help identify unique areas of needed support across campus -Attend 1:1 meetings with direct supervisor, team meetings, intern gatherings, and ongoing, required training (dates will be shared well in advance). -Plan, develop, and facilitate ongoing programs and events for first-gen students and their communities focused on belonging, holistic student support, and celebration of achievements. -Assist with assessment for programs and events to gather feedback on student satisfaction, engagement, and learning outcome attainment. -Create outreach materials (flyers, graphics, etc.) to promote the awareness of programs, events and services. -Assist with general office operations (maintaining office hours, upkeep of office space, organizing before and after events, etc.) and supporting the awareness of the First-Gen Badgers Program across the entire campus
