Department Overview:

UW-Madison’s Division of Extension serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide, and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships, and facilitating positive impacts. Within this Division, the Agriculture Institute is one of six Institutes and plays a key role by providing educational content and outreach on agricultural and horticultural topics statewide.

Farm Management Program: The Extension Farm Management Program partners with the agriculture community to develop research-based, culturally responsive educational information, resources, and tools that inform decisions for profitable, healthy farm businesses.

Pesticide Applicator Training Program: The University of Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator Training (PAT) Program provides educational materials for the purpose of pesticide applicator certification in Wisconsin.

Minimum: 10 Maximum: 15

Schedule:

Must be available to commit to a consistent schedule during typical office hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM). We will work with your class schedule to determine the best times.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $18.00

Qualifications:

● Must be enrolled for credit at an educational institution for the 2025-26 academic year
● Able to commit to a regular weekly schedule during office hours
● Employment will require a criminal background check

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Familiar with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X)
● Willing to learn tools like WordPress, XPS shipping software, Canvas LMS, etc.
● Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
● Comfortable following established procedures
● Good communication & customer service skills
● Able to lift and carry boxes up to 25lbs.
● Availability during student recess is a plus, but not required

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Farm Management Program duties:
● Maintain and update social media content
● Utilize Canvas accessibility tools to verify content compliance; videos, alt text, etc.
● Track student progress in Canvas courses and issue completion certificates

Pesticide Applicator Training Program duties:
● Package and ship training manuals
● Restock the inventory of manuals
● Complete general office tasks (e.g., scanning, shredding)
● Assist with processing orders

Physical Demands:

Able to lift and carry boxes up to 25lbs.
