Department Overview:
The Event Management team for Wisconsin Athletics is responsible for the safety and game day operations for all home athletic competitions and special events. We are searching for hardworking individuals that are looking to get hands on experience working with visiting teams, officials, and other departments within athletics while learning how to troubleshoot problems proactively and ensure a safe environment for all fans, participants, and workers.

Schedule:
Approximately 5-20 hours in the office and at events that take place on nights, weekends, and may include events around holidays and university winter/spring breaks. They are also expected to work on football gamedays.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
General knowledge of athletics related rules/regulations, ability to work as part of a team, customer relation skills in a fast-paced/high profile environment, ability to prioritize and time manage, and strong oral and written communication skills. Additionally looking for candidates that are hardworking, have excellent communication skills, reliable, and interact well with people of all ages.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Athletic Event Management Intern will assist the UW Event Management staff with the following duties: • Assist with the management of a number of varsity and WIAA athletic events and special events held in athletic venues (may include duties outside of event days – event walk-throughs, operations meetings, training sessions, advanced event day setup) • Assist in communication and hosting of officials, Big Ten Conference/NCAA personnel • Assist with event staffing and coordination with various departments within Athletics • Perform event set up and teardown as needed • Manage volunteers (floor/ball crews, etc.) • Serve as a host for visiting teams for assigned events and external rentals • Assist in the execution of NCAA and Big Ten Conference post-season events • Office assistance including clerical work, credential distribution, and special projects Additional Information: • All interns within the program are expected to work football gamedays • Program includes opportunity for professional development and mentorship • Events occur throughout the academic year, including academic breaks and holidays
Physical Demands:
Manual labor which may include lifting, carrying, long periods of standing and walking may be required. The ability to carry 20 pounds is required.
