Department Overview:
The James Watrous Gallery is dedicated to celebrating Wisconsin artists. Located on the third floor of Overture Center for the Arts in downtown Madison, the Watrous Gallery is a program of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters.

Schedule:
This is a weekend position: Saturday and Sunday, 12-5pm. Preferred applicants will be available to work both shifts. If necessary we may hire two individuals to cover different days.

A degree or certificate is not required for this position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Must be reliable, punctual, and personable, have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working alone. Knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art is a plus. The ability to climb ladders and lift up to 30 pounds is not required but is valuable during exhibition installations.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
James Watrous Gallery attendants are responsible for opening and closing the gallery space, welcoming visitors, providing security for the artwork, and light clerical work. Applicants must be available during the gallery’s weekend hours: Saturday and Sunday, 12-5pm. Attendants may also assist with exhibit installation when the gallery closes to prepare a new show.
Physical Demands:
This is primarily a desk position. The ability to climb ladders and lift up to 30 pounds is not required but is valuable during exhibition installations.
