Department Overview:

Office for Faculty Affairs and Development (OFAD); located on the 4th floor of the Health Sciences Learning Center, 750 Highland Ave. Conveniently located on UW-Madison campus.

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

Schedule:

• Part-time (6-8 hours/week)
• Schedule is flexible based on student availability during normal business hours.
• To comply with the federal Affordable Care Act, your employment as a student hourly is limited to working an average of no more than 29 hours per week and/or 130 hours per month over a rolling 90-day period.

Qualifications:

• Possess excellent communication skills and attention to detail, especially in writing and proofreading.
• Hands-on experience creating and editing documents with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint).
• Hands-on experience creating email campaigns and/or e-newsletters.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently within deadlines.
• Familiarity with Box, Google Drive
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills and initiative-taking.
• Preferred: Experience with webpage creation process, developing and updating websites with WordPress or similar webpage creation tool.
• Preferred: Familiarity with and/or a willingness to learn about terminology related to faculty development at SMPH

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Assist in the creation and distribution of OFAD’s monthly e-newsletter: Research the most effective platform to use; assist with transitioning from existing platform to new platform. Develop and write content including feature articles; search for and compile relevant news from SMPH sources; manage subscriber list; send and archive newsletter.
• Assist in updating and maintaining OFAD’s Faculty Award Opportunity webpage
• Collaborate with staff to develop creative approaches for communications, dissemination and promotional strategies to effectively reach faculty and other health professional and university audiences across the statewide campus.
• Produce content and draft files for print and digital communications.
• Assist with website content development and maintenance.
• Perform administrative tasks, such as word processing, proofreading, fact checking, web-based searches, graphics, other duties as assigned.
