Position Summary/Job Duties:
Summary This position helps bring this shop location to life by performing customer service, receiving merchandise, and display maintenance at the Wisconsin History Makers Space store. Store associates work as the face of the organization; warmly greeting guests, helping to complete sales, and supporting special programming in this location. A. 75% Perform Store Associate Duties 1. Helps customers by providing information; answering questions; obtaining merchandise requested; completing payment transactions utilizing point-of-sale systems and credit card terminals. 2. Assist customers with selecting merchandise, checking out, and following through on customer requests. 3. Maintain customer service standards on sales floor. 4. Cover sales floor as needed to ensure adequate staffing. 5. Receive and inspect incoming merchandise for sale. 6. Daily opening and closing of store; reconcile and balance any monetary discrepancies. 7. Maintain merchandise displays, including stocking, merchandising, and cleaning. 8. Replenish merchandise in a timely manner and monitor floor stock levels to ensure the store is properly always stocked 9. Execute floor moves, merchandising directives, display maintenance and general recovery (i.e., folding, straightening, etc.) as directed 10. Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements and execute merchandise placement for sales and other promotional events 11. Promote and facilitate sales of new memberships 12. Participate in year-end inventory 13. Ensure all pricing, signage, and displays are always correct 14. Coordinate with Education Staff during group shopping and break periods to ensure adequate staffing B. 20% Support Special Events 1. Perform store sales at special events, which may occur on weekends and/or offsite, such as at the Wisconsin Historical Society headquarters building 2. Create temporary displays in store that feature theme and/or merchandise connected to a special event, author talk, or other unique program 3. Put out signage in/around store promoting special events and upcoming programming 4. Help with setup of tables, chairs, or other equipment for special events, on occasion and as needed. C. 5% Serve as Part of Retail Program 1. Attend staff meetings. 2. Consult with Guest Services Director to determine appropriate professional development opportunities to attend/engage in. 3. Other duties as assigned.
