Qualifications:

• Very comfortable using Windows or other desktop computer systems
• Experience with or willingness to learn usage of eCommerce platform(s) and point-of-sale systems; including NopCommerce and Counterpoint.
• Must be able to sit continuously at desk/computer terminal for up to 3 hours at a time.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with marketing and/or product copy writing
• Basic photo editing skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability and willingness to follow instructions and learn new skills
• Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team

Position Summary/Job Duties:

A. 50% Online Store Item Setup & Merchandising
1. Following direction from the eCommerce Coordinator, add and publish new products to the online store following templates and process guides; creating engaging, detailed product copy, applying metadata tags, setting up multiple product images, etc.
2. Audit and refresh existing product listings to ensure uniform formatting of product details and layout. Additionally, expand product details and images on currently active products; including Retail department products, WHS Press catalog of books, webinar and digital, downloadable products, and historic images.
3. Assist eCommerce Coordinator with creation and organization of new product categories, subcategories, and tag groups to support online store expansion/development, promote theme and/or exhibit, and seasonal promotional tactics.
4. Perform category maintenance on existing categories to refresh display orders, remove discontinued and/or discounted products, and ensure look maintained and fresh.
5. Unpublish out of stock and discontinued products.
6. Update home page “Smart Collections”, featured products, and banners.
7. Promote website accessibility by auditing products for alt text metadata and ensuring all new product listings meet current accessibility standards.

B. 35% Support Direct Email Marketing Promotions
1. Following guidance of the eCommerce Coordinator, draft weekly direct marketing email for Retail list recipients; including: writing opening copy and subject lines, arranging products based on planned themes, adding in product and category links, and testing links to ensure accuracy.
2. Assign automations to Retail emails and assist with automation and segmentation, as needed.
3. Schedule email send dates and times, and send communications if deviating from regular schedule.
4. Create email banner images and edit product photography, as needed.
5. Maintain spreadsheet of email marketing KPIs (tracking click rates, conversions, sales, etc.)
C. 10% General Marketing Tactic Support
1. Submit feature product suggestions to Social Media Manager; includes sending product details and links monthly.
2. Setup discount codes in online platform and communicate with department stakeholders promotion details, as needed.
3. Upload, publish, and schedule home page banner images.
D. 5% Serve as part of Retail Program staff
1. Participate in team meetings (either in-person or virtually)
2. Respond to emails, phone calls, and communications in a timely and thorough manner.
3. Other duties as assigned.
