Department Overview:
The Information Technology Department at the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives the Agency’s business systems and automation requirements. The IT department manages infrastructure, software, and technical workflows that support the WHS's numerous program areas, 12 historic locations around the state, and its headquarters building in downtown Madison, WI.

Qualifications:
*WORK STUDY REQUIRED* Currently enrolled as a student in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Web Development, User Experience (UX) design) Knowledge of web design and development practices Interest in accessibility standards (WCAG) is a plus Able to learn new software and technologies Able to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge in copywriting Knowledge of photo editing Knowledge of WordPress Some knowledge of HTML/CSS Strong communication skills around ability to meet deadlines and work with stakeholders
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Under the general supervision of the IT Director and with guidance from the Software Engineer and Web Designer, the Junior Web Editor position will work to create, update, and manage the content of the web pages of the Wisconsin Historical Society, focusing primarily on WordPress pages and the Content Management System. The Junior Web Editor will also play a key role in ongoing digital accessibility, performing accessibility verifications and remediations to ensure agency webpage compliance.
