Department Overview:

The Engineering Student Center is dedicated to supporting all College of Engineering students and creating a sense of belonging and community for all. The LEED & STAR Scholarship communities are housed in the Engineering Student Center and are designed to foster a sense of community and belonging through networking, peer support, tutoring, advising, career counseling, and engagement in enrichment opportunities

Schedule:

Hours may vary between 8am-5:30pm on any given day and extend until 7:30pm on the Thursday of the monthly Engineering Student Center community meetings. The exact hours will be determined based on staffing needs and your schedule.

Qualifications:

Required:
- Completed at least one semester at UW-Madison
- Experience with Microsoft Excel/Google sheets
- Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred:
- At least 3 semesters remaining in their undergraduate studies (graduating on or after December 2026)
- Attention to detail
- Reliable and takes initiative
- Growth mindset and willingness to learn
- Experience planning programs and events
- Experience with social media marketing (Instagram, Facebook) for a group or business

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Successful candidates will have completed at least one semester at UW–Madison and bring experience with tools like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, Canva, and/or Adobe Creative Suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to learn are highly valued. Experience with event planning and social media marketing (Instagram, Facebook) for a group or organization is a plus.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Support LEED/STAR programming, including creating slides for community meetings and flyers for events in Canva, setting up, facilitating, and cleaning up for programs/events, etc.
- Assist with LEED/STAR logistics, including data entry and tracking in engagement spreadsheets, preparing materials for events, etc.
- Draft routine communications for LEED/STAR Scholars
- Post on social media and Group Me about LEED/STAR/Engineering Student Center events
- Order community meeting food and prepare and put away community meeting supplies

Physical Demands:

Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
