Department Overview:
Ebling Library serves the students, staff, faculty, and clinicians from the health sciences community (Schools of Medicine and Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, and related programs, and UW Hospital), as well as the rest of the UW-Madison campus and Wisconsin residents.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:45am – 5:00pm, shifts are generally 8:45am-1pm or 12:45pm-5pm. For Fall 2025 we have the following open shifts: Tuesday, 8:45am-1pm and 12:45pm-5pm, Wednesday and Friday, 12:45pm-5pm.

Qualifications:
Required: -Accepted or current graduate MA student at the UW-Madison iSchool -Keen interest in reference/public services experience in a library setting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Required: -Curiosity and desire to learn -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills -Dependability -Professionalism -Ability to collaborate with team members -Ability to follow through when working on independent projects Preferred: -Experience working at a library service desk or other customer service experience -Experience with UW-Madison campus libraries services and resources -Interest in health sciences
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Gain valuable knowledge of library and health science resources and services while being paid to help a dynamic group of faculty, staff, and students. Receive training on: -Indispensable general reference and public services skills -Introductory health sciences research -Consumer health reference -And more, depending on interest Summary of Responsibilities: -Staff the public service desk and represent Ebling Library in a welcoming, helpful, and professional manner -Answer general information questions and provide basic reference in person, on the phone, and via chat -Refer questions as needed to appropriate Ebling staff or other campus entities -Handle some circulation duties such as checking out materials -Assist with basic equipment issues -Complete projects as assigned, depending on interest and availability Training will be provided in all areas of responsibilities.

Sitting, lifting some books, typing.
