Department Overview:

The Office of Strategic Communication is UW-Madison’s central media relations unit. It publishes campus news and information through the Inside UW faculty and staff e-newsletter, The Weekly student e-newsletter, news.wisc.edu website, and several official institutional social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

Qualifications:

• Must be a registered UW-Madison undergraduate or graduate student
• Previous experience with video production (class experience or other video work) required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Familiarity with digital camera equipment (office-provided equipment is Sony-based)
• Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro
• Mac OS experience
• Strong communication, people, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in both an independent and collaborative manner
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Social media experience

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This is an opportunity to gain real-world videography experience in a professional setting and help to tell the story of UW-Madison.

The student videographer will work under the guidance of the Office of Strategic Communication video producers and help provide visual coverage of campus news, events, and student life.

Assignments will include creating and editing visuals documenting campus events, social-focused video content, assisting video staff with production work, and other tasks as needed.

Physical Demands:

This role may involve assisting with and using camera and lighting equipment, which can weigh over 20 lbs.
