Department Overview:

Our department focuses on providing quality food service while fostering learning and collaboration in a professional kitchen environment. We manage all aspects of culinary operations including menu planning, inventory management, and daily food preparation. Students working with us gain real world experience in organization, creativity, and teamwork while contributing to a positive and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

No prior experience is required, but previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred. Coursework related to culinary arts, nutrition, hospitality, or business management is also preferred. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and attention to detail are essential.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic understanding of kitchen safety and food handling practices

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team

Attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory and ingredients

Interest in menu planning, culinary creativity, and food systems

Good communication skills and a professional attitude in a kitchen environment

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Culinary and Inventory Management Intern will support kitchen operations through hands on involvement in inventory organization, menu development, and light food preparation. This position provides valuable experience in the day to day functions of a working kitchen and introduces students to the fundamentals of food service management. The intern will work closely with staff to maintain organization, assist with menu planning, and contribute to a positive and efficient work environment.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and to move supplies or equipment as needed. The intern must be able to stand for extended periods and navigate stairs while carrying items safely.
