Department Overview:

The ASA, CSSA, and SSSA publish an extensive library, containing 13 journals covering the agronomic, crop soil and environmental sciences and have been published since 1907. Two magazines, CSA News (society members) and Crops & Soils (certified professionals) are also published by the Societies. Both magazines are fully digital, feature user and mobile friendly design, include daily updates of timely and are freely accessible without a paywall or login. Lastly, our Book library contains more than 350 titles with several new titles published annually.

Schedule:

20 hours per week with the expectation of working four days per week. Days and times are flexible. Flexible Monday through Friday, within core hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of or willingness to learn Drupal or similar content management systems.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn Notion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Work Study Required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to write about science and research in a variety of styles and formats.
• Knowledge of multimedia platforms and tools (examples could include any of the following: video production and/or editing software, image editing applications, basic animation/.gif production, infographic design, illustration creation, etc.).

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Magazine Intern will assist in posting legacy magazine content to our new websites using Drupal. The intern will assist in other magazine duties commensurate with their skill set and time, which could include sending out emails, logging content into our Notion database, tracking news about our members and posting about it, making discussion threads about magazine content for member engagement, writing articles, helping with video production/editing, or developing infographics, illustration, or animations.
