Department Overview:

Come join our team in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment within the Division of Enrollment Management at UW-Madison. We are admissions professionals dedicated to recruiting, admitting and enrolling the next generation of UW-Madison undergraduates.

Schedule:

Hours will be variable from week to week. You can expect to work between 0 and 10 hours per week. Some weeks will be busier than others based on event schedules and social media needs. All event dates will be communicated in advance, and there will be opportunities to take on more hours during the busy spring event season.

Shifts include working portions of daytime events (7 am- 4 pm, most often Fridays and Saturdays), weeknight evening meetings (5:30-6:30pm, 1x per month) and weeknight evening virtual student panels (3x per month). Ideal candidates should have daytime availability on event Fridays and Saturdays during spring.

This position is currently available through May 2026, with the possibility of renewal for the Fall 2026 semester.

$13.00

Qualifications:

- Required: UW-Madison undergraduate student in good academic standing
- Required: Demonstrated campus involvement in student clubs/orgs, volunteering, or other campus jobs
- Preferred: Previous experience with public speaking
- Preferred: Previous leadership experience
- Ability to meet schedule expectations as outlined above

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Effective communicator, including public speaking to large groups in person and virtually
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player
- Open to feedback and ability to adapt to change
- Knowledgeable about the university and campus life
- Comfortable being featured on social media and online (identity safeguards will be in place)
- Comfortable speaking to your own lived experiences and identities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Willing to perform other duties as assigned

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Student Ambassadors will serve as representatives of the UW-Madison student experience during in person and virtual prospective and admitted student programming, as well as on social media and online via OAR communication channels. Additional duties include event preparation and event day staffing.

The Badger experience is unique to every student, and we want to be able to share that with prospective and admitted students and families. Therefore, ambassadors should be comfortable speaking about their lived experiences and identities to a variety of audiences.

The Student Ambassadors should represent a variety of backgrounds, identities, academic interest areas, and campus involvement.
