Anticipated Hours Per Week:

Minimum: 6 Maximum: 12

Schedule:

Flexible scheduling; Hours range primarily between Monday through Friday between 4:30 pm - 9 pm with occasional weekends.

Must work a minimum of one teaching shift (3-4 hours) every other week and attend team meetings (2 hours) twice a month.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $17.00

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate or graduate student with passion for inclusive approaches to food, nutrition, and cooking.
- Ability to attend in-person onboarding training and twice monthly team meetings.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to get it within the first 30 days of employment. These trainings are offered through Rec Well.
- Ideal candidates will have the potential to stay in role for at least 1-2 years.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Communication, facilitation, critical thinking, flexibility, and organization skills.
- Experience or interest in developing and delivering education programs for a wide range of groups.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Wolf Teaching Kitchen in Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center is seeking creative, compassionate, detail-oriented, and flexible people with a passion for the field of food and nutrition. This position facilitates Wolf Teaching Kitchen programs, which include cooking classes and other food events. This position works with departmental professional staff and student staff to support nutrition events and programs.
Teaching Kitchen Instructors will:
- Facilitate events and programs in the Wolf Teaching Kitchen including preparation of supplies and food, and clean-up.
- Inform cooking topics and nutrition education experiences including recipe selection.
- Engage program participants during events.
- Explore the relationship between food and culture.
- Follow all food safety, general safety, and food allergen guidelines.
- Provide program feedback and improvement through evaluations and informal methods.
- Advocate for programs run out of the Wolf Teaching Kitchen.
- Commit to upholding the mission, vision, and values of Rec Well on and off-shift and commit to building a culture of inclusion and belonging.
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

Occasional lifting, transporting of materials.
