Department Overview:
WIDA, housed within the UW School of Education, advances academic language development and academic achievement for children and youth who are culturally and linguistically diverse through high quality standards, assessments, research, and professional learning for educators. The WIDA Assessment Team pursues a validation research agenda that supports the WIDA suite of language assessments (ACCESS for ELLs, WIDA Screener, and WIDA MODEL). This position will contribute to various aspects of this research agenda, such as study design, literature review, data collection and analyses, manuscript/report authoring and review, and presentation of findings.

Qualifications:
Doctoral student who is in a field related to language assessment, second language (or bilingual) acquisition, educational measurement or related field: • Education (e.g., Curriculum and Instruction; Educational Measurement; Educational Policy; Educational Psychology) • Second language acquisition/TESOL • Psychology • Human Development • Linguistics (with a focus on second language acquisition) Candidates should have the following qualifications: • Research experience in collecting empirical data—qualitative or quantitative, or both • Data analysis skills—qualitative, quantitative, or both • Ability to use research analytical software/tools (qualitative or quantitative, or both) • Experience writing academic papers • Excellent spoken and written communication skills • Attention to detail
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Preferred: • Knowledge of a foreign language
