Department Overview:

The Multicultural Student Center (MSC), located in the Red Gym, provides support, advocacy, and co-curricular experiences that center, affirm, and celebrate the varied and intersectional experiences of all UW students. Our spaces, programs and services are designed to cultivate a sense of belonging and community while strengthening all students’ capacity to learn, lead and thrive.

Qualifications:

2.0 Cumulative G.P.A. Required for Hire
Undergraduate
Written/verbal communications skills
Proven collaboration skills
Leadership and Involvement on campus
Excellent customer service skills
Have knowledge and experience in event planning and implementation
Familiarity with social media, Canva, or similar software
Be able to work independently with strict deadlines for programs and events

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The ISC Programming Intern, also known as the ISC COUSIN (Cultural Organizer Uniting and Strengthening Indigenous Networks) will report to the Coordinator for Student Belonging Programs to develop programming to build community within the student body, and to increase the usage of the center via programs and services. This intern will take a lead in creating and supporting programs throughout the academic year that serve the Native/Indigenous student community, marketing and promotion of the center via social media, campus partnership opportunities, as well as the operations of the center. This Intern is paid a wage of $16.00 hour. This intern will work 10-12 hours a week during the academic year. Start date will be May 17th, 2026 with the possibility to work a maximum of 5 hours virtually over the course of the whole summer. .

Develop programming for the ISC focused on community building and education
Update and maintain social media presence through posts and engagements
Engage in collaboration with other campus partners with similar programming and goals
Assess programs and collect feedback from campus and student attendees
Host “office hours” or time in the center to be available for connecting with student population
Staff the front desk of the ISC and interact with guests and student organizations
Help the ISC Program coordinator with the daily operations of the ISC that include but are not limited to: cleaning, sanitizing, organizing common areas, and data entry.
Other Duties as Assigned
