Our department integrates Plant sciences with agroecological approaches to create more resilient crops and landscapes in response to a changing climate and other global pressures placed on food-energy-water systems

Schedule:
Work schedule will be flexible during June, starting July 1 until August 20 full-time. 7:30am to mid-late afternoon M-F with expectation that you will be available for weekend work if necessary. If advanced notice is given weekend time off for weddings/family functions will be granted.

Qualifications:
No experience necessary, training provided. Successful candidates must be current and continuing undergraduate students. Non-agricultural majors interested in outdoor experience are encouraged to apply. Affinity for outdoor activities is highly recommended, all job duties will involve working in the elements. Applicants must provide their own transportation to and from the West Madison Agricultural Research Station
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
The ability to work long hours on your feet in variable weather conditions and work well in group settings in addition to working on individual tasks.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Main duties for this position consist of hand pollination of the breeding nursery, weed control (hoeing), Hybrid evaluation (taste testing and data collection), trail and nursey maintenance, and seed harvest.
Physical Demands:
Long hours in the field exposed to various weather conditions, lifting (40ILbs), and bending over and squatting down to hand pollinate.
