Department Overview:

The Mary T. Kellner Teacher Education Center aims to uphold the Wisconsin Idea by supporting research and development of policies that capitalize on the role of teacher preparation in challenging inequities in PK-12 schools, maximizing the impact of our teacher preparation programs, and supporting the preparation of teacher educators and teacher education scholars. The team members of the Mary T. Kellner Teacher Education Center share a passion for equitable education, social justice, innovation, and service. We believe ensuring that all PK-12 students have access to high-quality teachers is an important avenue by which to pursue excellence and equitable educational outcomes.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must be an enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Candidate must demonstrate excellent organizational skills. The candidate must also have a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, an ability to work well in a team, have a creative mindset, and an interest in learning more about teacher education. Candidate should understand and have appreciation for the diversity of identity, thought, and experience of our campus and surrounding community. It is preferred that the candidate understand the current PK-12 landscape and have experience in teacher education work.

Candidates should also have:
Proficient experience with Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Proficient skills in Google Drive and other cloud systems
Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams;
Ability to juggle multiple tasks;
Strong oral communication skills; and
High standard of professionalism

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Give and receive feedback effectively
Problem solving and critical thinking skills
Knowledge of academics, services, activities, cultures, and student experiences at UW-Madison
Event creation and programming knowledge

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Assist with creating and producing logistics for outreach programming
Assist with event set-up, audio/visual needs and event run of show
Take on a variety of administrative projects and day-to-day tasks including mailings, assembly projects, preparing agendas and documents, material collection, designing event materials, etc.
Monitor RSVPs forms and send out data reports and updates by using Excel Sheets
Manage attendee lists for events and create, print, and prepare name tags for events
Collaborate on event ideas and event program format
Maintain inventory of event supplies
Collect past event information including data and pictures and produce additional event reports as needed/requested
Update event timelines and assist with project management
Other duties as assigned that support the collective work of the Mary T. Kellner Teacher Education Center, including but not limited to, recruitment support and data collection/analysis.
