Department Overview:

The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of the UW-Madison campus in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities.
The Grounds Department organizes, coordinates and performs activities that support campus landscaping, gardening, and grounds maintenance, including watering, weeding, planting, string trimming, mowing, and mulching.

Qualifications:

Preferred previous experience in gardening or landscaping. Applicant should have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of gardening or landscape maintenance like watering and weeding.
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and work as a team.
• Values quality and detail-oriented output while being efficient.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Grounds Department is seeking independent, self-motivated student employees to assist with beautifying campus by performing activities that support our landscaping, gardening, and grounds maintenance on the UW Madison campus. Primary duties would include controlling weed growth in landscape beds, watering, mulching, planting, debris clean-up, string trimming, and mowing.

Physical Demands:

This is a physical job and may require walking, standing, bending, and other tasks related to landscape maintenance.
