Qualifications:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, preferably in Public Health or Health Sciences, Nursing, Social Work, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or similar field, or on a pre-medical/health professional school track. Preferred: Prior experience with office and administrative support, demonstrated ability to maintain organized records and manage administrative documentation, experience supporting communications efforts, including creating flyers, infographics, and announcements, proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data organization, tracking, and generating basic reports, interest in medical and research administration and supporting healthcare operations in an academic setting. To be considered, applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, and three references including the current/most recent supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
It is preferred that students have experience working in healthcare or community-based settings. Relevant academic coursework and administrative or research experience will also be considered. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with and an interest in Emergency Medicine. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and initiative. The position requires the ability to work autonomously, respond effectively to rapidly changing conditions, and collaborate as a member of a small work group. The candidate must be able to communicate diplomatically with both internal and external constituents and manage multiple tasks across varied timelines. Additional required skills will be taught by research staff as part of ongoing training.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student employee to provide administrative support for the department's research initiatives. This position will play a key role in assisting the Emergency Department Research Coordinator program, supporting the Emergency Medicine Research Committee, and tracking resources and compliance items that span the research mission. This student may be integrated into a variety of teams and programmatic efforts and will contribute to the overall success of the department’s research productivity. Job Duties 1. Administrative Support (25%): •Assist with scheduling and managing meetings, including preparing agendas, recording minutes, and tracking action items. •Maintain and organize documentation for specific research projects, ensuring compliance with departmental and institutional guidelines. 2. Research Coordination Support (25%): •Assist with tasks required by the Emergency Department Research Coordinator program, including quality assurance for recruitment efforts related to the evolving portfolio of studies supported by this program. •Provide support for study-specific documentation, such as maintaining regulatory binders or data collection tools. •Support inventory management for research-related supplies and resources. 3. Committee Support (25%): • Help coordinate the activities of the Emergency Medicine Research Committee by managing communications, tracking action items, and maintaining documentation. 4. Other Duties (25%): • Assist with general office tasks, such as scanning, copying, and data entry. • Provide occasional support for special events or projects related to Emergency Medicine research.
Physical Demands:
The position will not involve large amounts of physical labor. The position requires frequent repetitive motion (typing).
