Department Overview:
The ITSS department is responsible for general computer support at the WNPRC. This includes connecting computers to the wireless network, adding printers, migrating files, and managing backups, and more. Other ITSS projects include supporting a local SAN and virtualization platform, as well as several docker containers for hosting websites.

Schedule:
Between 5 and 20 hours a week. IT Support Students can book the hours they work each week with a high degree of flexibility.

-Interest in computer technology -Experience with MacOS, Windows, or Unix-based operating systems.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The IT Support Student will assist with the IT computer system used by the WNPRC. This will involve supporting wireless connectivity, network printers, and new account setup. The WNPRC hosts multiple labs and service units with different needs, and the Information Technology team supports that research. The majority of this position will be monitoring a ticket queue to see when new requests arrive, and reviewing documentation or consulting with other ITSS members to find the best solution. New ITSS support Students usually start out creating and deactivating user accounts, and progress to workstation setup and support, and can even gain experience with server scripting and backup management.
