InterPro’s mission is to advance the Wisconsin Idea for the College of Engineering by delivering professional education programs and learning services to individuals and organizations. We are the premier UW–Madison organization offering a portfolio of professional education programs and services focused on the needs of engineers, managers, technical professionals, and partner organizations, to guide them into the future. Interdisciplinary Professional Programs, a division of the College of Engineering, is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and highly motivated student to join our team and support marketing efforts for our Online Graduate Programs. The right candidate will play a key role in editing and producing video content for websites, social media, and email campaigns, while helping shape video strategy and storytelling that supports our brand. This role offers hands-on experience in video production, digital marketing, and content strategy, with opportunities to build a strong portfolio of published work. InterPro provides student assistants with real-world, hands-on experience and published content for portfolios. Engineering experience is not required for this position. Schedule:
Flexible hours between Monday and Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM CT. We work around your class schedule! Hours can change every semester. The duration of this appointment is May 2026 – December 2026 with opportunity to extend beyond. Must have availability over the summer.

You are: • A current UW–Madison student. All majors and fields of study are encouraged to apply; additional consideration given to individuals pursuing degrees in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related fields • A strong visual storyteller with an interest in video editing and digital content creation • A good communicator who can translate ideas into engaging video content • Organized and detail-oriented • A collaborative team player • Enthusiastic and creative • Interested in video strategy, digital marketing, and audience engagement • Excited to learn new technologies, editing techniques, and AI-powered video tools You love to: • Edit video footage into engaging short- and long-form content • Create content for social media, websites, and email campaigns • Tell stories through video, motion graphics, and visuals • Experiment with new video formats (short-form video, reels, explainers, testimonials) • Improve workflows and find efficient ways to produce high-quality video content • Try new tools, including AI-assisted video editing and captioning • Collaborate with others to bring creative ideas to life
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
The following experience is preferred, but not required: Video & Content Creation • Video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro strongly preferred) • Experience editing short-form video (social media reels, shorts, etc.) • Basic videography skills (camera operation, lighting, framing) • Motion graphics or animation tools (Adobe After Effects preferred but not required) • Captioning and video accessibility practices Marketing & Digital Tools • Social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) • Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator) • Microsoft Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) • Email marketing programs (Eloqua or Constant Contact) • Cloud-based document management tools (Box, Google Drive) • Internal messaging and web conferencing tools (Teams, Zoom) • Basic HTML knowledge (preferred)
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Video-Focused Marketing Communications Student Assistant will assist the Marketing Specialist with communications efforts for Online Graduate Programs, with a primary focus on video editing, production, and digital storytelling. Responsibilities include: Video Editing & Production (Primary Focus) • Edit video content for websites, social media, and email campaigns • Create short-form and long-form videos to support marketing initiatives • Assist with filming video content, including interviews and promotional footage • Add captions, graphics, music, and branding elements to videos • Organize and manage video files and digital assets • Ensure video content aligns with brand standards and accessibility guidelines Video Strategy & Content Planning • Support development of video content strategies for marketing campaigns • Recommend video formats based on platform best practices • Assist in analyzing video performance metrics • Help identify opportunities to expand video usage across campaigns Marketing Support (Secondary Focus) • Assist with social media content planning and scheduling • Support website content updates • Assist with email marketing campaigns • Help create supporting graphics for digital campaigns • Support outreach events and marketing initiatives as needed
