Department Overview:

The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, several scientific research cores, and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.

The IT department serves the academic, administrative, and research technology support needs of faculty and staff at the Waisman Center. There are approximately 50 Waisman Center units each with their own unique needs, areas of research, and support needs.

Qualifications:

Must currently be enrolled as a student at UW-Madison or another institution. Students currently enrolled in an Information Technology or related program are strongly encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with customers and staff required.
- Proficiency with Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and recommend solutions or workarounds.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position will serve as a liaison between IT staff and migrated users. Responsibilities will include recapping the procedure in non-technical terms for the user, reviewing and assisting with the new login procedure as needed, observing the user’s first login attempt and potentially documenting any error messages in the internal ticketing system. Other IT-related duties may be assigned as needed.
