Department Overview:
The Center for Teaching, Learning & Mentoring (CTLM) is part of the Division for Teaching & Learning (DTL) along with the Office of Academic and Career Success (OACS), the Morgridge Center for Public Service, the Rebecca M. Blank Center for Campus History (CCH), the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement (WISCIENCE), and the Student Learning Assessment (SLA) office. In collaboration with the crucial work done in and by schools and colleges, CTLM supports UW–Madison faculty and staff in their continuing growth as practitioners of the complex, challenging and dynamic craft of teaching. Bringing together about 50 professional staff members with extensive and wide-ranging expertise, the center serves instructors at all career stages, including teaching assistants, by offering campus-level professional development, course design and instructional consulting programs and services.

Schedule:
20 hours a week during a schedule to be negotiated by the supervisor and PA. The PA will need to be available to attend regular staff meetings and be available to participate in interviews and other meetings scheduled during regular business hours. This position is 20 hours per week as a 50% project assistant appointment which includes tuition remission. If the final candidate is available, there may be a possibility of employment beginning sometime during the summer, at an agreed upon date.

Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at UW-Madison, with a preference for an earned bachelors degree in education, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or a social sciences related field. Candidates should have the following qualifications: 1. Experience in collecting qualitative data through methods like conducting interviews and course observations; 2. Experience in analyzing qualitative data via interview and meeting transcripts, course materials, and open-ended survey responses; 3. Communicates effectively in one-on-one and group situations; 4. Writes effectively to make thoughts and ideas known to others; 5. Familiarity with developing questions for surveys; and 6. Knowledge of or familiarity with program evaluation is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Graduate student with experience conducting qualitative research methods in educational, public affairs, and/or other social science fields. In addition to the required qualifications described above, the following are skills and values that the CTLM Evaluation Team find important to working collaboratively as a team conducting internal program evaluation. 1. Position Summary/Job Duties:
*Conducts qualitative data collection methods and analysis; *Interviews faculty, teaching assistants, other instructors, and students regarding their experiences in teaching and learning; *Develops and runs surveys (Qualtrics), content analysis, data analysis, data visualization; and *Writes evaluation reports crafts slide decks, and participates in presentations when necessary for staff and leadership within CTLM or particular stakeholder groups.
Physical Demands:
Ability to physically attend meetings on campus when necessary, when remote or hybrid participation is not possible.
