The Business Learning Commons is the physical center and dynamic heartbeat of the Wisconsin School of Business. Its vibrant, “human-centered” architectural design reimagines business education, providing cutting-edge learning and study spaces loaded with supportive technology. Schedule:
Will vary but aligns with the Learning Commons hours (Monday-Wednesday 7:30 am-11:00 pm, Thursday 7:30 am-9:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am-7:00 pm, Saturday 1:00-5:00 pm, Sunday 12:00-11:00 pm with extended hours during finals). Evening and/or weekend hours are required.

Qualifications:
-Must be located in the United States (international students are welcome to apply, but we cannot hire students who are residing in another country) -Undergraduate students pursuing a BBA degree (admitted to the WSB) -Must be available to work evening and/or weekend hours
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
-Customer service experience desired -Knowledge of other WSB programs and services is desired -Ability to troubleshoot technology and facilities concerns
Position Summary/Job Duties:
-Create a welcoming and inclusive environment -Provide friendly, attentive, and helpful support for all events and services happening within the Learning Commons: may include communicating specific information, directing students to an activity, assisting with room technology and furniture, etc. -Proactive approach to ensure all spaces, technology, and services are ready for use -Basic Mac and Windows computer and AV troubleshooting in labs and classrooms. Examples would include rebooting computers, clearing printer jams, showing patrons how to use lab or classroom touch panels and associated technology, connecting laptops and tablets to wireless network and printing, helping students put money on WISC account for printing, and showing patrons how to connect to wireless display devices -Respond to instructor needs in labs and classrooms in a professional and helpful manner -Assist all patrons with reserving breakout rooms and following use policies -Effectively direct referrals to on-site librarians where appropriate -Effectively and promptly document and communicate technology problems and/or significant facilities issues for IT and Facilities staff to address. -Provide light maintenance, cleaning, and other organizational services to present a professional-looking learning and event space for WSB faculty, staff, and students. -Work under the supervision of the supervisor -Complete training for the position (both in person and asynchronous); training hours will be compensated -Maintain regular hours. Strong candidates will have various availability during the open hours of the Learning Commons, especially evenings and weekends -Close down the space if working until closing hours, including walking through all of the areas, ushering patrons out of the space, turning off AV equipment if left on, tidying up spaces, resetting furniture, turning off all lights, and locking all of the doors -Support data collection processes to better understand and improve space utilization and services
Physical Demands:
Must be able to do rounds of all three floors of the Learning Commons during shifts to check on the printers, tidy up space (pushing in chairs, straightening other furniture), and see if there is anything else that needs to be addressed.
