Department Overview:
International Student Services (ISS) serves students on F-1 and J-1 student visas. We provide advising, activities, and advocacy for international students on the UW-Madison campus and in the community. International Student Services recognizes international students as a vital part of UW–Madison. We are committed to educating and empowering students to make informed decisions and working with them to advocate for a globally inclusive community. The Global Engagement Team seeks to intentionally and holistically support international students, campus, and the Madison community through coordinating events and programs that foster a sense of belonging, promote advocacy, and enhance global engagement. As the Multimedia and Video Intern at ISS, you will have the opportunity to capture what ISS offers - covering ISS events, promoting ISS services, and highlighting the international student experience - through engaging digital content. This internship opportunity provides valuable hands-on photography, videography, graphic design, and editing experience while amplifying international student voices on campus.

Schedule:
The ISS office is open 8:30am - 4:00pm M-F along with various afterhours events. This position would work 10-20 hours a week, mostly during the normal working hours. Some afterhours event work is to be expected.

Qualifications:
Qualifications: - Current student (undergraduate or graduate) - Familiar with social media platforms (Meta, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube), shortform video - Strong intercultural communication skills (including written and verbal) - Passionate storyteller and advocate for international students - Ability to work with a diverse clientele and multiple competing deadlines - Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Teams and SharePoint Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with Canva - Experience creating shortform videos using a phone, and utilizing apps like CapCut - Experience using a DSLR camera or similar - Experience working in an office or in student leadership positions - Experience using digital video production software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom) - Bilingual or multilingual - Experience living in another country

Position Summary/Job Duties:
1. Produce long and short form videos to help promote ISS programs, events, services, and initiatives 2. Create promotional materials, including flyers and social media content, using Canva 3. Event Support - Take photos and videos at events and programs with ISS camera - Help with set-up / tech support at ISS programs (especially after-hours events) - Encourage participation in events 4. Edit, upload, and organize photos and videos in shared Drive 5. Follow digital accessibility guidelines when creating content 6. Take headshots for staff and student leaders 7. Brainstorm content and project ideas that promote intercultural learning and cross-cultural exchange 8. Meet weekly with assigned supervisor and complete semesterly performance reviews and goal setting 9. Participate in monthly team training and retreats 10. Other projects based on candidate’s own talents and interests 11. Help with events including (but not limited to): International Student Welcome and Information Fair (ISWIF), Game Night, Practicing English and Cultural Exchange (PEACE), Graduation Celebration, Peer Navigator events, Global Café and other affiliated student organization events.
Physical Demands:
Able to sit for long period in an office or stand for a few hours at an event. Ability to lift 15 lbs and push/pull a cart would be helpful.
