Schedule:

 Individual is expected to have a regular, weekly in-person schedule during MHS business hours when Psychiatric RNs are available for direct supervision and check-in. Tuesday through Friday.

Qualifications:

 Student should be able to work independently and as part of a team. Successful candidates can understand and follow written and oral instructions, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliances, and possess effective listening and communication skills.

Required:
- able to work independently and as part of a team
- able to follow verbal and written instructions
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA
- customer service experience
- professionalism and accountability

Preferred:
- experience in a health care setting
- medical terminology experience
- reception desk experience
- comfort and interest in additional responsibilities
- Though not required, the ideal candidate will continue in the position for a minimum of two semesters.
- Undergraduate student majoring in health-care related field- social work, psychology, nursing, pre-medicine.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Working knowledge of telephone and comfort with making phone calls
- Strong time management skills with the ability to coordinate status of requested projects.
- Interest in health communication, especially related to mental health.
- Ability to work collaboratively with UHS professional staff and student staff.
- Ability to learn how to navigate an electronic health record

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Work collaboratively with Psychiatric RNs under their direct supervision to follow up on outreach needed to students who are connected with Psychiatric Services at UHS.

Key Duties under Direct Supervision:
- Provide administrative support for the Psychiatric Services team.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage follow-up communications.
- Assist students with forms, questionnaires, and service navigation.
- Monitor waitlists, eligibility and support care coordination activities.
- Process documents and maintain records.

- Possibility of supporting clinical staff with patient vital signs checks (additional training would be provided).
- Complete other duties as assigned.
