Department Overview:

The WISc Program seeks an undergraduate student for the Program Assistant position to provide administrative support to the program, including communications and digital media development, event support, and outreach support. In this role, the student will be working primarily with Melody Niwot, the WISc Associate Director, to support multiple administrative and communications-related objectives.

Schedule: Student must be available on Tuesdays from 4:30-8:00pm. Other dates and times are negotiable depending on student class schedule.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will:
• Be enrolled as a student at UW-Madison
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent the program to both internal and external stakeholders
• Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Be able to work select evenings as needed
• Demonstrate the ability to work both collaboratively and independently and to be self-motivated

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

As Program Assistant, you’ll develop experience in program coordination, digital communications, and event planning while strengthening your public speaking, writing, organization, and teamwork skills.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The position is responsible for the following:
• Collaborate with WISc program staff to maintain an updated and relevant program website. Familiarity with digital accessibility and design best practices a plus.
• Assist with logistical details for events to ensure programming runs smoothly, including room set-up and break-down, AV support, and other tasks as indicated.
• Collaborate with WISc faculty and staff for the implementation of programming.
• Develop, write, and edit student and event features and newsletters for publication on the program’s website and digital media platforms
• Contribute to the development of weekly campus and program communications
• Assist with recruitment management and communication including responding to general inquiries about the program, directing interested applicants to relevant resources, and helping to facilitate prospective applicant information sessions.
• Contribute and help to maintain up-to-date participant information
• other program assistance as requested
