Department Overview:

 Dr. Passmore’s work (https://passmorelab.wiscweb.wisc.edu/) focuses on health equity and the engagement of communities for research and health promotion. This position will be located in the UW-Madison School of Nursing’s Signe Skott Cooper Hall, near UW-Hospital. We have a strong team environment to support research activities. Students will enjoy a modern workspace and working closely with faculty, staff and students to advance research and outreach.

The UW-Madison School of Nursing is housed on the west end of campus near UW-Hospital in the beautiful Signe Skott Cooper Hall, where employee wellness is a focus. Researchers at the UW–Madison School of Nursing investigate, innovate, collaborate across disciplinary boundaries, and translate research into effective solutions. The School is committed to promoting equity and reducing health disparities. We conduct, support and promote equity-based research that explicitly addresses disparities in access, quality, and outcomes. We engage participants and partners from diverse communities across the state and the nation, particularly those most affected by issues of health equity.

Schedule:

 Schedule will be determined collaboratively between the employer and selected candidate, with the majority of hours needing to occur Monday-Friday between normal business hours of 7:30-5:00 p.m. Funding for this project ends May, 2027, but we hope the right candidate may want to continue on with our research team if new funding becomes available.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

 Minimum: $19.00 Maximum: $24.00

Qualifications:

 • Demonstrated interest in equity and diversity
• Enrolled student for the 2026-27 academic year at UW-Madison

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Well qualified students will demonstrate:
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, with experience or ability to quickly learn scheduling features
• Proficiency in MS Word, including use of track changes and other editing features
• Experience setting up surveys in Qualtrics
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Confidence asking questions when unsure of tasks or instructions
• Experience with interviews, focus groups and qualitative data analysis.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This student hourly position performs a variety of tasks to support research, including:
• Scheduling team meetings and taking meeting minutes
• Responding to emails from participants and scheduling data collection
• Conducting interviews, performing transcriptions and participating in qualitative analysis.
• Preparing and distributing electronic surveys to participants
• Assisting with scientific literature reviews
