Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled UW-Madison graduate student in good standing
• Background in literary studies (or a closely related humanities field)
• Reading proficiency in French
• Excellent written English and strong copyediting/proofreading skills
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and project-management ability; able to work independently and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with scholarly citation conventions (MLA)

Position Summary/Job Duties:

• Compiling, formatting, and verifying bibliography and citations and managing references in a citation manager
• Retrieving and organizing primary and secondary sources through the library and interlibrary loan
• Proofreading, fact-checking, and copyediting chapter drafts for consistency and accuracy
• Verifying French-language quotations and their English translations if necessary
• Assisting with image research and securing reproduction permissions/rights for visual material
• Formatting the manuscript to the press’s style guidelines and helping assemble submission materials
• Tracking progress across chapters and helping keep the project on schedule
