Department Overview:

International Strategy and Partnerships (ISP) is a unit within the International Division. ISP supports the international engagement of our faculty, staff, and students, whose diverse research, teaching, learning, and service activities extend beyond the boundaries of the UW campus to influence people’s lives around the world.

Our work focuses on three primary areas: international agreements, incoming and outgoing international delegations, and partnership development. We work closely with faculty and staff to develop and fully execute international agreements, we host representatives of higher education institutions and government agencies that seek meetings with campus leadership, and we foster conditions for partnership between UW and individuals and institutions in key geographic areas.

Hours are flexible, but limited to ISP office hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30-4:30pm

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will:

- Be enrolled as a student at UW-Madison
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent the university to both internal and external stakeholders
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate the ability to work both collaboratively and independently and to be self-motivated

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The successful candidate:

- Has an interest or experience in international work or study
- Demonstrates the ability to quickly learn new online systems
- Is comfortable communicating professionally via email with a variety of audiences (students, staff, faculty, etc.)
- Discerns when decisions can be made in the moment or need to be escalated for further review

Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position will be responsible for the following:

- Maintaining key aspects of ISP’s institutional partnership database, the Wisconsin Directory of Global Engagement, such as updating external institutions and contacts.
- Managing a shared email, including initial reviews, escalating to ISP staff, and responding when appropriate.
- Preparing briefing documents for campus leadership participating in incoming or outgoing international delegations.
- Researching and drafting country, institutional, and individual profiles.
- Completing close-out procedures for international visits and agreements.
- Assisting during large or complex international visits.
- Contributing to ISP annual reports and analyses
