Department Overview:
The Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy, located in the UW Law School, examines the nature and prospects of liberal democracy and its core principles, practices, and institutions, and promotes intellectual pluralism on the UW-Madison campus. CSLD courses and programs seek to advance participants’ commitment to civic responsibility, defense of uncensored dialogue, and the foundational principles of liberal democracy.

Schedule:
Flexible. The Media & Communications intern will need to attend at least a portion of most CSLD events throughout the semester (the majority in the early evening) to take photographs and video for communications and promotional purposes. The intern will also help with event advertising and external communication on a flexible schedule.

Qualifications:
UW-Madison students able to commit 2-6 hours per week for the 2026-27 academic year.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
The successful applicant will be comfortable creating, posting, and managing content on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Strong photography and videography skills, along with the ability to write posts, advertisements, and short newsletter items are necessary for this position. Familiarity with WordPress website design a plus, but not required.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Social Media & Community Outreach Coordinator manages our organization’s day-to-day social media presence, promotional materials, and event documentation. This position plays an important role in increasing campus and public awareness of the Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy and its programs, events, classes, and other activities.
