Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Provost for Academic Programs, the Project Coordinator will assist the Vice Provost in the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs (OVPAP) in managing the day-to-day and overall operations, project management, and data analysis for OVPAP initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
- Lead on developing, managing, and maintaining a number of electronic systems for tracking and data management. Focus on maintaining quality data and linking information emerging from various University databases and external data sources. Conduct descriptive data analysis and prepare written summaries for the Provost’s Office and senior University leaders.
- Collaborate with colleagues from the Office for Planning and Institutional Research (OPIR) on regular reporting and evaluation initiatives, as well as special projects as they emerge.
- Devise data analytic plans for integration of information across various University systems and analyze data for internal and external reports.
- Conduct data analysis, organize and prepare written materials, including reports and presentations, for the University’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) reaccreditation.
- Oversee projects that emerge from larger Office initiatives. Focus on state, federal, and accreditation agency approval, reporting, and regulatory requirements for educational programs and related agreements. These include, but are not limited to MSCHE, the U.S. Department of Education, the New York State Education Department, and the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement.
- Facilitate office activities on the review and approval of educational agreements that emerge from all Columbia schools and units in partnership with hundreds of external partners from across the globe. Assist with organizing, tracking, and reviewing educational agreements.
- Manage a range of internal competitions to support faculty, teaching, and service collaborations within and across Columbia Global Centers, and an Interdisciplinary Teaching Award program that supports collaborations between faculty from different departments and schools on the design and launch of interdisciplinary courses. Manage a variety of related communications about University awards.
- Manage and organize materials for Academic Reviews of Schools, leadership development programs for faculty, and selected fellowship programs such as the Lemann Interschool Student Fellowship and the Waseda Faculty Fellowship, including but not limited to collection and cataloging of applications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent required; coursework in statistics, data science, or computer science preferred. Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience required.
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Excel (including pivot tables and lookup), knowledge of database management software (e.g., Access or other), and proficiency with software for statistical analysis (STATA, SPSS, SAS, or other).
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive data are required. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and demonstrate initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
- Experience in higher education.
- Expertise in data analysis, data visualization, data warehousing, business intelligence software, SQL, and relational database design.
- Experience with online forms and survey design programs (e.g., Qualtrics, Cognito) is highly desirable.
