Position Summary

Reporting to the Directors and Assistant Director, the incumbent will be responsible for marketing, communications, development, website, programming, and events efforts. The incumbent will liaise and collaborate with multiple constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, donors, and the public.


Responsibilities

WRITING/EDITING/CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

Oversee writing, editing, and production of all IIJS publications. Write and edit content and oversee design and production of public-facing materials, including website pages, print materials, newsletters, social media content, yearly magazine, and other communications and marketing material. Requires exceptional writing skills with a thoughtful approach along with great attention to detail. Ensure brand consistency across all IIJS materials and communications.

  • Identify, write and promote print, web, and newsletter content (student spotlights, blog features);
  • Research, write and edit IIJS communications including to students, faculty, and donors
  • Create content for a small monthly newsletter, manage its distribution and lists;
  • Review, edit, and update student messaging including admissions letters, fellowship announcements, and ad-hoc communications;
  • Draft and edit talking points and other content for a range of internal and external events
  • Write, edit, and oversee the design and production of the yearly magazine

WEB/SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Serve as key owner of the IIJS website and social media accounts.
  • Manage IIJS’s digital and social media channels, paid online campaigns, website, and design promotional materials, including those used for fundraising.
  • Create and manage set-up and registration for in-person and zoom webinar events and update/link events to the website.
  • Grow and analyze IIJS’s digital and social media accounts, Develop IIJS’s brand and voice online and on social media.
  • Curate and manage the website bringing a strategic vision to maximize our impact and gain new supporters.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Manage Interfolio communications, The Academic and Faculty Management Software for annual Postdoc and similar hiring.
  • Assist with various elements of program calendar from in-person guest management, to zoom event management, to monitoring and curating event Q&A.
  • Assist with planning process and interviewing students for various IIJS fellowships.
  • Other related duties as assigned to assist Institute Directors and Assistant Director as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent. 
  • Two years of related experience.

Other Requirements

  • The successful candidate must be able to work as part of a small Institute team as well as independently. Requires exceptional organizational, analytical, interpersonal, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities and unprompted follow-through.
  • Excellent digital skills are a must. Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Extensive experience with Squarespace, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Zoom, and Social-Media Platforms.
  • Experience planning, writing, editing, and producing newsletters, reports, briefing memos, marketing collateral, and other print materials.
