Position Summary
The Department of Psychiatry is currently searching for a full time, highly motivated Pediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to work as a member of the Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant Program at CUIMC. The Nurse Practitioner will be working with an integrated interdisciplinary team across both inpatient and outpatient pediatric settings providing psychiatric evaluations, crisis triage, stabilization, and medication management for children, adolescents and their families involved in the Pediatric solid organ transplant program at CUIMC. Collaboration with other mental health providers such as social workers, psychologists, case managers and psychiatrists, as well as pediatric subspecialty teams would be integral in patient care. This is a full-time, clinical position working closely with the pediatric solid organ transplant teams (heart, liver, kidney and multi-visceral). The Nurse Practitioner will have clinical privileges at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. This is a non-tenured track position. Academic appointment is commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities
- Candidate(s) will screen referrals from pediatric solid organ transplant teams, coordinate intake appointments and determine appropriate level of service.
- Candidate(s) will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, risk assessment and treatment planning.
- Candidate(s) will provide evidence based psychopharmacologic treatment.
- Candidate(s) will provide evidence based short term psychotherapeutic treatment modalities.
- Candidate(s) will determine and coordinate transfer of care needs for stabilized patients.
- Candidate(s) will provide telehealth services.
- Candidate(s) will provide consultation and coordination of care with pediatric solid organ transplant team.
- Candidate(s) will participate in case discussions with the psychiatric and transplant teams and regularly communicates with all of the patients’ providers as needed.
- Candidates will provide care to patients in crisis as unforeseen needs arise.
- Candidate(s) will participate in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required. Attends and serves on professional/civic service organizations as hospital representative.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Candidate(s) will liaison with other treatment providers within NYP, CUIMC and with outside agencies.
- Candidate(s) will perform all activities in compliance with hospital, regulatory and program guidance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience required; 4 years related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual-Spanish speaking
- Previous work experience in an outpatient psychiatric setting providing psychopharmacology and combined psychotherapeutic treatment.
Other Requirements
- Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
- The successful candidate will have an MS in Nursing (DNP preferred) with national board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, strong analytical abilities, and ability to work autonomously and manage a patient caseload in a fast paced and changing environment, and critical thinking skills are required. Experience using an electronic health record is required.
- Strong psychiatric diagnostic skills.
- Work with patients with comorbid psychiatric and medical needs.
- New York State Registered Nurse and Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner Licenses required.
- DEA certificate required.
- BLS certificate required.
