Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled technician (Tech B position) to work in the lab of Dr. Natura Myeku at Columbia University Medical Center. The laboratory is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease and applying therapeutic strategies to overcome the dysregulated pathways in cellular and mouse models. 

 


Responsibilities

  • Investigate the dysregulated protein clearance mechanism in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Work with a postdoc and be directly supervised by the principal investigator.
  • Perform various biochemical, histological, and enzymatic assays from primary cell cultures and animal models.
  • Perform a variety of molecular biology techniques, including in vivo work with rodents; proficient in culturing primary neurons and immunohistochemistry and western blotting. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • The candidate must have completed Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or related sciences or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education and training in biology or neuroscience
  • The candidate is preferably skilled in a variety of molecular biology techniques, including in vivo work with rodents, and proficient in culturing primary neurons. Immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
  • Experience in a neuroscience laboratory is ideal for the nature of work.
