Position Summary
The Abate-Shen laboratory in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking to recruit hard-working, ambitious, and energetic individuals as part of their research team. Research in the Abate-Shen laboratory is focused on cancer biology, with an emphasis on the generation and analyses of mouse models of cancer. The Technician B will assist post-doctoral fellows and other research staff in their analyses of mouse models of cancer and will assist in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent (or soon-to-be) college graduate. Our laboratory is located on the health sciences campus.

Responsibilities
The Technician B will provide research support to a molecular biology laboratory that is focused on the analysis of genetically engineered mouse models of cancer. The primary role of the Technician B will provide support for studies related to mouse husbandry and translational research studies using mouse models. The Technician B will also assist in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
Duties may include:
- Working with post-doctoral fellows on their research
- Maintenance of mouse colony
- Data analyses as needed
- Assisting with laboratory maintenance
- Conduct experiments according to written directions, assisting in collecting samples and preparing lab solutions and/or cultures
- Maintain lab notebooks and records related to the work.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques.
- One year of related experiences.
