The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Sleep, Mind, and Health Research Program in the Columbia School of Social Work uses interdisciplinary methods to study how psychosocial and structural factors affect sleep, mental health, and cardiovascular health in underserved populations. The Sleep, Mind, and Health Research Program, directed by Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Carmela Alcántara, has an open full-time position for a Research Staff Assistant. The Research Staff Assistant will work directly with the Principal Investigator and Program Coordinator on the Dormir Mejor study, which aims to test a digital treatment for insomnia in a randomized controlled trial of Spanish-speaking Latinx adults and support other related research on sleep and health in underserved populations.


Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the PI and Program Coordinator, conduct participant recruitment and research interviews, and ensure participant compliance with study procedures.
• Under the direction of the PI and Program Coordinator, perform research-related administrative tasks, including research data entry, data cleaning, and coding.
• Assist with maintaining compliance with IRB and all other regulatory practices
• Assist in creating content for manuscripts for publication or conference materials for presentation.
• Write reports for review and approval by PI and prepare proposals for funding.
• Assist with outreach and dissemination activities related to the research projects, including participating in community and research events with study partners.
• Participate in regular research meetings and planning sessions.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or related social science discipline.
  • Minimum of one year of prior research experience in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine, or a related social science field.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Certified training in HIPPA Compliance and Human Subjects protection.
  • Proficiency with data management platforms (such as FileMakerPro, RedCap, Qualtrics).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and statistical software such as SPSS, R, SAS, or STATA.
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
