Position Summary

The MS Program Education Assistant is responsible for assisting the Public Health Nutrition professor in MS program courses in the Fall and Obesity and Clinical Observership in the Spring.


Responsibilities

  • [100%] Academic and Faculty Support, 08/1/2023-05/24/2024

    • Assist with live class, 3 hours per week
    • Review lecture recordings on Canvas for clarity, 3 hours per week
    • Create and review discussion board questions, 2 hours per week
    • Hold office hours for assignments and final presentations, 8 hours per semester
    • Answer student questions online and via Canvas, ½ hour per week
    • Assess final presentations, 10 hours per semester
    • Review any materials request by course director, such as readings, papers, assignments and questions, 1 hour per week
    • Grade dietary assessment assignment, 40 hours at end of course.
    • Any additional tasks, assigned as needed by course directors in Spring, which may include the clinical observership, obesity medicine 5 day course, or US and Int’l Programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related experience.
  • Highly effective organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience with complex information and computer systems. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently.
  • Effective communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish realistic and achievable priorities to achieve Institute goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates ability to be innovative and to take initiative in a range of tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with course management systems.
  • Master’s degree in a science related area.
  • Experience in an academic health institution.
