Position Summary

The MS Program Educational Assistant is responsible for assisting the Epidemiology professor in the Fall MS program course 8/1/23-12/31/23.


Responsibilities

[80%] Academic and Faculty Support

  • Assist with live class, 3 hours per week
  • Approve paper topics, 10 hours per semester
  • Grade one paper assignment, 30 hours within a two-week period
  • Review discussion posts, 1 hour per week
  • Host review sessions before midterm and final exam, 8 hours per semester
  • Host review sessions for struggling students, 30 minutes to one hour per week
  • Answer student questions online and on canvas, one hour per week
  • Assist faculty with administrative aspects of courses, including but not limited to Canvas postings, scheduling and tracking assignment submissions
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested

[20%] Academic and Student Support during testing

  • Serve as a liaison to Office Disabilities Services and the faculty, and provide proctoring support as needed
  • Help proctor exams (midterm and final exam), during scheduled class, 3 hours per exam

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of related experience
  • Highly effective organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience with complex information and computer systems. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently
  • Effective communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to establish realistic and achievable priorities to achieve Institute goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates ability to be innovative and to take initiative in a range of tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a science related area
  • Experience in an academic health institution
  • Familiar with course management systems
