The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Columbia University Labor Lab, part of Incite at Columbia University, leverages the tools of social science to understand and strengthen efforts to rebuild the economic and political power of workers.  Incite is seeking to hire a project coordinator for the Columbia Labor Lab.  Reporting to the Co-Directors of Columbia University Labor Lab, the project manager will support the administration of several large-scale field randomized controlled trials in partnership with external organizations.  The position will include coordinating partnerships with labor organizations, as well as the collection, coordination and management of information and data.


Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the program manager, PIs, and other researchers to coordinate events and activities in the Labor Lab Liaises with partner organizations to ensure research compliance and data integrity.
  • Organizes weekly meetings with partner organizations, sets agenda for meetings, sends out reminders about meetings and manages calendar invites.
  • Maintains database of partner organizations, affiliated researchers, and student volunteers relevant to the Labor Lab Runs calls with partner organizations to maintain project pace, troubleshoot potential issues, and ensure staff are prepared to present in weekly meetings.
  • Runs calls with project fellows and student employees to maintain project pace, troubleshoot issues and ensure they are prepared to present in weekly meetings. 
  • Manages the recruitment process for fellows working on Labor Lab projects, including posting advertisements, screening candidates, and organizing interviews with the research team. 
  • Processes payments for fellows from the Labor Lab, ensures fellows have met their milestones for payments. 
  • Responsible for maintenance of records and files, including confidential research data. Maintains all IRB procedures when handling research materials covered under an IRB protocol. 
  • Works closely with Program Manager to assist with grant portfolio; including: searching out grant opportunities by following federal and non-federal funders' call for proposals; drafting language for grant proposals; assembling background documentation for grant budget proposals. 
  • Assists PI and Program Manager with the development of surveys and questionnaires, organizes responses both by hand for paper responses or in Qualtrics for online responses. 
  • Processes payments for survey respondents. 
  • Manages workflow for student employees at Columbia, serving as a resource for students when needed. 
  • Works with INCITE administrative staff to coordinate hiring new student employees when needed, assists with onboarding new students and training them. 
  • Works with INCITE administrative staff, PIs and Columbia’s Sponsored Project Finance office to prepare financial reports for grants, track spending, and ensure timely submission of reports. 
  • Assists with dissemination of findings through the preparation of reports, journal articles, presentations, web sites, and other research outlets.

Administrative Coordination   

  • Monitors Labor Lab office space, ensuring office is equipped with supplies as needed. 
  • Works closely with PIs and Labor Lab program manager to set meeting times, reserve spaces for meetings and events, and host zoom/webinars when needed. 
  • Prepares and assists with reimbursements or purchases when needed. 

**THIS IS A 12-MONTH POSITION WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION IF ADDITIONAL FUNDS ARE SECURED**  


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or its equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of US labor institutions.
  • Candidate must be organized and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Some experience with managing projects and/or teams is desirable.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn basic statistical programming in R or STATA.
