Position Summary
The School of Nursing is seeking a detail-oriented Columbia University Student Research Worker interested in research on transgender and nonbinary health, health disparities, and/or research about mental health and suicide risk factors.
Responsibilities
-
Selected candidate will work on research focused on mental health and suicide risk factors among transgender and gender diverse adults. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the student casual will be responsible for a broad range of research and administrative activities. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Administering study questionnaires in-person using electronic data capture systems (e.g., REDCap).
- Assisting with data collection and processing from an in-person behavioral task.
- Assisting with data management.
- Managing recruitment efforts, and screening participants for eligibility.
- Assisting with research dissemination activities.
- Performing other research related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have previous research experience with sexual and/or gender minority populations and behavioral lab tasks, and be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment with frequent interaction with research participants and other research staff.
This position is grant funded and continued employment will be contingent upon the grant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree.
- Comfortable working with transgender and gender diverse adults.
- Familiarity with electronic data capture systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field (complete or in progress).
- Experience in research using behavioral lab tasks.
- Organized and able to multitask in a diverse research environment.
- Capable of working effectively in collaborative research groups.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in sexual and gender minority health research or working with transgender and gender diverse populations.
- Experience with health-related research.
