The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

Columbia University recently launched a new suite of services and a platform for delivering online courses, programs, and experiences across all schools at the University. Columbia+ delivers in-house services across marketing, recruiting, instructional design, media production, learner services, and more.

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Online Education, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for planning, implementation, and management of performance marketing campaigns for courses, programs, events, and other offerings from schools at Columbia University.

This inaugural marketing position offers a unique opportunity to define the marketing strategy for the platform and services and strengthen Columbia’s position as a global leader in the digital education space. The Marketing Manager will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to plan, execute, and optimize marketing campaigns.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Drive the strategy, budget, and execution for all marketing efforts of Columbia+.
  • Develop and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to set strategy and execute against goals.
  • Manage relationships with agencies to oversee the development of marketing assets and collateral to drive performance.
  • Manage digital media and non-digital campaigns and reporting of marketing performance data.
  • Develop KPIs and success metrics with key leaders and monitor, measure, and optimize all marketing campaigns.
  • Create integrated marketing campaigns based on market and audience segments and goals to gain and engage learners.

Execution

  • Launch and promote new programs, courses, and events in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of prospective and current learners through experimentation, user research, and analytics.
  • Oversee and curate communications to drive platform sign-ups, course and program enrollments, as well as learner engagement and retention.

Reporting & Optimization

  • Analyze and evaluate the performance of end-to-end marketing campaigns.
  • Identify trends and insights and optimize spend and performance based on such insights.
  • Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests.
  • Develop and deliver campaign performance data to relevant stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Build and inform marketing tracking and analytics for attribution, measurement, and reporting.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of marketing experience preferably in digital marketing working for an in-house marketing team or at an agency.
  • Experience with managing direct reports and leading a team.
  • Expertise in Google Analytics and other industry standard adtech.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Experience with Marketing Operations, Email Marketing, Content Marketing, Paid Media, and Social Media marketing.
  • Ideal candidate is experienced, creative, data-driven, and collaborative.
  • Strong leadership, big-picture strategic thinking, and detail-oriented execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agency and some higher education experience preferred.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and stakeholders, including giving presentations and updates to key stakeholders.
  • Experience with Google Ads; Facebook Ad Manager; LinkedIn ads and Display media.
  • Experience working and liaising with agencies and third parties, and project management.
  • Experience with budget planning, demand generation, building awareness, and nurture campaigns.
  • Knowledge of SEO and optimization tools, including crafting and managing SEO-enriched content.
