The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Director will manage the smooth operations of a multi-building portfolio, including oversight of facilities, space planning, capital projects and business services. SPS currently occupies space on the Morningside campus and two mid-town locations.
The incumbent will be a hands-on manager leading the school’s facilities and operations team in determining and documenting policies and procedures, creating opportunities to improve service, and assisting in change management efforts. The Director is highly visible within the school and will engage with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
Facilities Management
- Oversee the day-to-day facilities and maintenance needs for the school
- Provide long-range planning establishing priorities for facilities maintenance
- Manage the work-order ticketing platform to successfully address requests
- Track reports and provide data analysis for all work performed within the unit
- Proactively monitor and maintain workspace, conference and classroom conditions
- Identify and address building security issues
- Manage location and work schedule data for the school and real time dashboards for executive team decision making
Space Planning, Capital and Non-Capital Renovation Projects
- Lead renovation & alteration of all SPS spaces including design and project management
- Serve as point person and general contractor for non-capital projects, including securing cost estimates, managing budgets, and coordinating work
- Oversee & implement reallocation (restacking) of space coordinating desk assignments and moves
- Perform needs assessments and strategically identifying growth impacts
- Manage campus storage space working with stakeholders to identify need and appropriate storage options
Business Services
- Manage vendor service contracts and facilities service requests
- Oversee mail services, on-site vendors & contractors, procurement and inventory control of supplies
- Maintain policies and procedures, disseminating information to stakeholders
Relationship Management
- Coordinate with an extensive stakeholder network including CU Facilities and Planning, CU Compliance, Public Safety, CU Real Estate, CUIT, internal SPS clients, professional consultants/contractors, and management companies
- Partner with SPS HR and Faculty Affairs to identify safety concerns and implement measures to support our staff, students & faculty
Other Responsibilities
- Manage a team of full-time officers and supervise temporary employees or student casual employees
- Responsible for facilities annual budget and provides input on budget needed for capital projects and work with Finance and CPM on approved Capital Project budgets
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned or requested
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5-7 years related experience required

- Advanced degree is desirable
- Prior supervisory experience

- Computer skills required, knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite required
